When you name Martin Luther King, it’s impossible not to think of the Selma Bridge Walk. He was a world-renowned activist. A person who fought for peace, equality, gender and racial equity. In a world with a discriminatory culture, he managed to be the change factor that inspired millions to raise their voices and say enough is enough.

But why did he succeed where so many people had tried and failed? Why did he change the history of the United States? This is something we don’t usually stop to think about. Martin King was not the first to raise his voice. There were hundreds of people who came before him. People who perhaps had more ability or more vivid experiences of what discrimination was. From former slaves to people unjustly incarcerated. Martin Luthen King had not really suffered much (to the extent of previous examples) he came from a wealthy family. He was the son of reverends, his family were leaders in their community, both spiritually and socially. He had the opportunity to go to good schools and have a broad education. However, without having lived anything strong, he had that difference. He achieved that catalyst that helped mobilize entire nations.
